AYSO Region 440 Sideline Expectations
Parents cheer, coaches coach, and referees administer the game!
Parents should not give instructions to players on the fields. Parents should cheer (loudly if they wish) and give positive recognition.
Never yell or shout in anger. Parents and coaches are role models and we expect them to act as such and demonstrate exemplary polite behavior and good sportsmanship for our players.
Stay at least 3 feet away from the touchline (side line). Only the lines person or assistant referees should be in this area.
No one is allowed on the goal line (the line behind the goal).
In 8U and down, one team with parents should be on one side of the field with the other team and their parents on the other side of the field.
In 10U and up, coaches and players are on one side of the field while spectators will be on the other side.
If a spectator or coach conduct goes beyond the limits of good sportsmanship, this may result in the offender being asked to leave the field. If the offender refuses the game will be suspended until the offender complies or the game may be cancelled if the offender refuses to comply to official requests.
There will be no tolerance of referee abuse! Our referees are volunteering their time so that your children can play. Please treat them with respect!
